Background
Ensconced in the midst of the Kuala Lumpur Sentral is a world-class transportation terminal, Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur, built to cater to travelers and commuters both local and foreign. Brilliantly designed and constructed, Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur is one of the key areas that were developed by Kuala Lumpur Sentral Sdn Bhd in the first phase of development within the Kuala Lumpur Sentral district. Other key areas being developed in Phase One include Integrated Retail Centre, Plaza Sentral, Suasana Sentral, Hotels and Office Suites. These developments were completed by year 2004.
Phase Two, projected to commence in 2005 and achieve completion by 2010, would incorporate an Arena Sentral and additional office and residential lots. Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur, which has been in operation since April 16, 2001 is set to become a one-stop transit point to a new business destination in Kuala Lumpur. It is the first of its kind in the world, integrating four rail networks in one station. Set to be the only rail terminal linking an airport to several rail services plying Kuala Lumpur, this station is also dubbed as the Virtual City Airport as it houses an airport check-in and check-out facility. |
